In this educational video, Noel Šuran tells us about the Istrian “mih.” He explains what it’s made of and what defines its sound. He presents three types of “mišnice” (bagpipes) used and provides examples of how they sound. The most neglected of them – the “duple mišnice” (double bagpipes) – gain a new dimension in this project, through a new way of playing devised by Šuran. Istrian polyphony in a tradition that is alive, changing, and growing.
